The Foundation for Peripheral Neuropathy welcomes Amanda Peltier, MD, MS, to the board of directors 

The Foundation for Peripheral Neuropathy (FPN) welcomes Amanda Peltier, MD, MS, to our board of directors, effective Jan. 1, 2025. Her distinguished career in neurology, extensive research experience, and dedication to advancing care for peripheral neuropathy patients make her an exceptional addition to our leadership team. 

About Amanda Peltier, MD, MS 

Peltier is an Associate Professor at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where she serves as the Fellowship Director for the neuromuscular program. She is also an active member of the Vanderbilt Autonomic Disorders Center and the Vanderbilt Amyloid Multidisciplinary Program. 

Peltier earned her medical degree from The Ohio State University before completing her Neurology residency at the University of Michigan. She pursued advanced training with a neuromuscular fellowship under the mentorship of Eva Feldman, MD, PhD, where she gained expertise in EMG, skin biopsy techniques, and autonomic testing. Complementing her clinical focus, Peltier holds a master’s degree in clinical research design and statistical analysis, enabling her to lead groundbreaking research initiatives. 

Research contributions 

Peltier’s research career spans over two decades, with more than 30 peer-reviewed publications focused on peripheral neuropathy. Her work is particularly impactful in identifying biomarkers for therapeutic clinical trials in diabetic polyneuropathy and other neuropathies. She has also conducted extensive research in peripheral neuropathy and autonomic disorders, contributing to advancements in diagnostics and treatment strategies. 

Peltier’s vision for FPN 

Peltier emphasized her passion for collaboration with patients and researchers to advance science and improve care: 

“I am always interested in how we can work with patients to better serve them as well as advancing science in this field. I have been involved in research in peripheral neuropathy since I was a fellow and have worked alongside experts. I bring a wealth of expertise and research experience to this board.” 

A new chapter for FPN 

As a board-certified neuromuscular medicine specialist since 2008, Peltier’s clinical and research expertise will be instrumental in guiding FPN’s mission to enhance patient care, support research advancements, and serve as the premier resource for the peripheral neuropathy community.
