The Foundation for Peripheral Neuropathy Receives Transformational Legacy Gift
We are honored to announce that on December 16, 2024, the Foundation for Peripheral Neuropathy (FPN) received an extraordinary and transformational donation of $255,000 from the estate of Elizabeth Smallfelt. This gift, given posthumously, is a generous gift that will make lasting impacts in the neuropathy community.
About Elizabeth Smallfelt
Elizabeth Smallfelt was a patient who suffered from peripheral neuropathy. A proud supporter of FPN’s for the last decade, Smallfelt was driven to help improve the lives of people who were impacted by neuropathy, like she was.
Smallfelt’s career started in journalism. She later found her passion working in the stock market. Smallfelt figured out how to trade before the internet was even born. Smallfelt never married and had no kids, but did have a fond love for cats. Much of her legacy has been donated to animal charities, as well as the Foundation for Peripheral Neuropathy.
FPN would like to honor and celebrate Smallfelt’s remarkable generosity. This substantial gift will significantly advance our mission to improve the lives of those living with peripheral neuropathy through research, education, and advocacy.
The Impact
The impact of this donation cannot be overstated. It will enable us to:
- Fund groundbreaking research projects aimed at finding effective treatments, and one day cures, for peripheral neuropathy.
- Expand our strong advocacy program to significantly increase research funding for peripheral neuropathy through the U.S. Department of Defense and the National Institutes of Health.
- Increase our staff capacity to allow reinvestment into existing programs and growth initiatives, ensuring sustainable development and expanded reach.
- Enhance our educational resources and outreach programs to better reach patients, caregivers, and healthcare providers.
Elizabeth Smallfelt’s Legacy
We extend our deepest gratitude to Elizabeth Smallfelt for her visionary support. Her legacy will live on through meaningful advancements. This gift will bring tremendous hope to the peripheral neuropathy community.
